TALISAY City Mayor Gerald Anthony Gullas, Jr., in a Facebook post on Sunday afternoon, August 8, 2021, appealed to the public, particularly his constituents, to be extra careful against Covid-19.

Gullas said he understands the clamor of the people to "get the economy back on track," but he also emphasized the need to balance both health and the economy.

"Unlike the previous two weeks, lisod karon kay dali gyud maka takod ang Covid karon. Mas transmissible siya, mas daghan naigo and kita kaayo nato karon sa kadaghan na hospital ug Covid (Unlike the previous two weeks, it is harder now as the virus has become more transmissible. It is evident with many people being hospitalized because of Covid)," reads a portion of his post.

He then expressed his thanks to health frontliners, whom he said have literally put their lives in danger to save others.

He said although the government can set guidelines and implement protocols, the government "cannot be in all places at once," which is why public cooperation is really important.

Gullas said the ratio of one policeman for every 2,000 Talisaynons is an example of the challenges in implementing health protocols.

He said a total of 255 curfew violators have already been apprehended since the start of August.

He reminded the public to appropriately wear face masks as a sign of respect to all.

"It's a sign that you care for the people around you and it's a sign that you respect the doctors and nurses in the frontlines of this war against Covid," Gullas said. (WBS)
