TALISAY City Mayor Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas visited the wake of the Llamedo brothers in Purok Sayaw, Sitio Laray, Barangay San Roque on Tuesday, April 11, 2023.

Mark Emman, six, and Nathaniel, seven, drowned when they fell into an unfinished septic tank that was filled with water last Sunday morning, April 9.

Aside from extending financial donation to the family, the mayor also offered to help them file a case against the owner of the property where the septic tank was dug up.

“We have the name of the person on the tax declaration, but I’m not sure as to who the current rightful owner is because I heard the property has changed hands several times. Police are already trying to find out who hired the persons who worked on the septic tank,” Gullas said in Cebuano.

The mayor also found out from the City Engineering Office and the barangay captain that the septic tank and the house on the property do not have permits.

Gullas said the owner may have gotten away with not securing the necessary permits, but the City Legal Office has no choice but to take action because of last Sunday’s tragedy.

In the meantime, Lieutenant Colonel Randy Caballes, chief of the Talisay City Police Station, said he couldn’t say how many will be charged or what kind of case will be filed since that will depend on the result of their investigation.

However, he said they have two persons of interest. (BBT, PJB)
