THE wife of Talisay City Vice Mayor Alan Bucao was elected as the new president of the city's Association of Barangay Councils (ABC) earlier Monday, July 16.

Following her landslide victory in the city's ABC elections, Marietta "Yehyen" Bucao will formally assume as ex-officio member of the Talisay City Council during its regular session tomorrow.

Bucao was elected during the ABC elections held at City Hall at 10 a.m. Monday.

Bucao, who served as village chief of San Isidro for three terms, ran unopposed.

She formally replaced former Barangay Bulacao chief Raul Cabañero as ABC president.

In an interview, Bucao vowed to improve the ABC's management by streamlining their policies, particularly on the process of procurement in barangay-based infrastructure projects.

She also vowed to improve the barangays' status in the campaign against illegal drugs by reactivating their Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Councils (BADACs) and institute drug-cleared villages in the city. (Justin K. Vestil/SunStar Cebu)
