POLICE investigating the ambush-slay of lawyer Joey Luis Wee have discovered that four men, not two, orchestrated his murder.

Lt. Col. Wilbert Parilla, deputy director for operations of the Cebu City Police Office and commander of Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) Wee, made the disclosure during a case conference on Thursday, Dec. 3, 2020.

Parilla said they were able to secure security camera footage from the crime scene.

He said that aside from the gunman and the getaway vehicle driver, two other men were seen waiting outside the building where Wee’s office is located.

Parilla believes the two men served as “spotters” or as lookout for the gunman and his cohort.

Parilla said they already sent the videos to the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit 7 for enhancement to determine the identities of the two spotters and to check the plate number of the vehicle they used.

Next week, members of SITG Wee will meet with officials of the National Bureau of Investigation 7 for another case conference.

Parilla disclosed that Wee’s wife refused to coordinate with their investigation. However, he believes she is still in a state of shock, especially since she was present when her husband was killed.

He said one footage shows the gunman pointing a gun at Wee’s wife before shooting the lawyer.

Parilla assured the family that they will continue their investigation until a case can be filed against the people behind Wee’s murder.

Wee, 51, was gunned down outside his office on J. Panis St. in Barangay Kasambagan on Nov. 23. (AYB / JKV)
