THE Bureau of Jail Management and Penology Tracking Team recaptured Saturday morning, Feb. 8, 2020, the five escapees who bolted from Manjuyod District Jail in Negros Oriental last Monday, Feb. 3.

According to a message from BJMP 7 Director Jail Chief Supt. Paulino H Moreno Jr., two of the five prisoners, Janly Callao and Ronie Flores, surrendered after a successful negotiation with their relatives while the other three—Joseph Casido, Julan Paculanang and Lito Pedro—were recaptured in a hot pursuit jointly implemented by members of BJMP 7 and personnel of the Tayasan Police Station.

The escapees are now back in jail. Instead of sending them back to Manjuyod District Jail, they will be detained in Bais City Jail and Dumaguete City District Jail.

Meanwhile, BJMP Chief Jail Director Allan Iral reminded all regional directors to be more proactive in attending to security concerns in jails.

The BJMP is currently conducting an investigation on the incident. (BJMP-CRSO)
