Tell it to SunStar: Sambag 1’s street children

Sunnexdesk

STREET children abound in Barangay Sambag 1, Cebu City, particulary at the corner of J. Urgello and Uytengsu Streets.

Some of them spend the night sleeping in front of the Royal Pension House.

It looks like the barangay has turned a blind eye to their plight since they have become daily fixtures.

Establishments, too, have learned to tolerate their presence, even when they enter eateries and pester customers for food.

These past few weeks, their number has grown. Maybe they want to take advantage of the people’s generosity during the Christmas season. The fact is, they don’t belong on the streets. (By Mildred Ynot of Sambag 1, Cebu City)

Pangasinan has been posting over 40 degrees Celsius heat index since a few weeks ago, and local government officials have implemented various measures to lessen the impact of the high heat index to the students.
