22 teams join DBTC alumni basketball league

THE alumni basketball league of the Don Bosco Technical College (DBTC), Don Bosco Cup “Is Your Pack the Strongest?”, kicks off today, March 24, at the DBTC Gym.

The tournament features two divisions--Division 1 and Division 2--with 11 teams each.

Division 1 will have Batch ‘98, Batch ‘99, Batch 2000, Batch 2001, Batch ‘95, Batch ‘94, Batch ‘97, Batch ‘96, Batch ‘91, Batch ‘80 to ‘93 and Batches 2002 and 2003.

Division 2, on the other hand, is composed of Batches 2008 and 2009, Batch 2016, Batch 2014, Batch 2018, Batch 2015, Batch 2007, Batch 2011, Batches 2004 and 2005, Batch 2006 and Batch 2017.

Each division follows a single round-robin format with the top two teams getting outright spots and a twice-to-beat advantage. The third- to sixth-ranked squads battle for the two semifinals slots.

The champions of each division will pocket a P25,000 cash prize, while the second placer gets P10,000. The third placer will get P5,000. Games will be played every Saturday and Sunday.

This tournament is a project of Batch ‘98, with the help of DBCAI headed by Vincent Escobido, for the beautification of the school lobby and landscaping. (EKA)
