San Isidro cagers take crown in Talisay Mayor's Cup juniors tilt

BARANGAY San Isidro hung tough down the stretch to repulse Barangay Pooc, 81-75, and come away with the championship in the Juniors division of the 2019 Talisay City Mayor’s Cup in the finals at the Talisay City Sports Complex on Monday night, September 30, 2019.

It was a closely-fought match with San Isidro clinging on to a four-point lead, 57-53, heading to the last canto. Try as they might to overcome their opponents, Pooc just could not get over the hump as San Isidro proved too skilled and talented down the stretch.

Edu Sanchez led San Isidro’s scoring parade with 17 points, nine rebounds, six assists, five steals and a block. He also got ample support from the likes of Zandryl Rosano and Martin dela Torre who had 12 and 11 points, respectively. Chason Licayan also submitted 11 markers.

Hans Bolo led Pooc with 18 points while Rubino Singson backed him up with 17 markers.

Meanwhile, Tangke earned the third place trophy with a 77-72 victory over Cansojong. Eliezer Obrero fired in 27 points, three rebounds, five assists and five steals to carry Tangke to the win. Edjun Socias provided help in the form of his 16 points as Tangke dominated the third period, 20-11, to set the stage for their victory. (SunStar Cebu)
