CCC to host 4th MVPSF

THE National Golf Association of the Philippines (NAGP) is inviting local golfers to join the the 2019 MVPSF Visayas Regional Golf Championship on April 8 to 12 at the Cebu Country Club (CCC) in Brgy. Kasambagan, Cebu City.

The tournament organized by NAGP and is part of the PLDT Group National Amateur Golf Tour has brought some of the country’s amateur golfers in town in its first three editions.

Now on its fourth year, the organizers are hoping to draw more participants. Last year, the field had more than 60 amateur players from Cebu, Manila and neighboring regions.

The golf event will have the usual regular men’s and women’s divisions. The addition for this year is the mid-amateur open division for the players with a maximum of UNHS handicap of 18.

The organizers said this is the first time that they have added the mid-amateur open division as a sidelight event. The participants will play a 36-hole stroke play on April 11 to 12.

In the regular men’s division, only the first 44 amateur golfers with a certified handicap index of 9.7 and below are allowed to play. The women’s division will have 20 amateur female golfers with a handicap index of 10.

The two-day qualifying rounds for the men’s and women’s divisions is on April 8 to 9. The Top 16 male players and Top 16 female players will advance to the matchplay round.

The Round of 16 will be on April 10, while the quarterfinals and semifinals will be on April 11. The championship will be on April 12.

The Top 3 in the men’s and women’s division will receive prizes, while only champion and runner-up in the mid-amateur open class will get prizes.

The registration fee for the regular men’s and ladies class is at P3,000 for Filipino citizen player and P4,000 for foreign citizen player. The registration fee in the mid-amateur open is P2,500 for Filipinos and P3,500 for foreign players.

As the host club, the members of CCC will pay an entry fee of P1,500.

Registration will be open until April 5. The players are allowed to play one practice round either on April 5 or April 7. (RSC)
