THE CitiGreen Tennis Team selection will go home with all smiles after a solid performance in three competitions in Malaysia and Thailand.

The CitiGreen netters capped their stint abroad with 11 gold medals, four silvers and four bronzes in the Hat Yai-100 Plus International Junior Tennis Championships, which was held on Dec. 7 to 12.

The 13-man team also participated in two events in Malaysia--the 35th RGB-Penang Open International Juniors Tennis Age Group Championships last Nov. 29 to Dec. 3 and the 38th Tuanku Syed Putra Perlis-Milo International Junir Tennis Championships last Dec. 4 to 8.

For its first tournament, the team bagged 12 gold medals, two silvers and three bronzes followed with a 12-3-1 medal haul in the second event in Malaysia.

Shan Osorio of CitiGreen Tennis Resort Cebu said that the young netters collected a total of 35 golds, nine silvers and eight bronzes in the three tournaments.

“We are absolutely satisfied and proud with their performance. The total number of medals won speaks for itself. These kids represented the Philippines well and gave honor to the country,” Osorio said.

The players sent to the three tournaments abroad were mostly from the Visayas and Mindanao. It was an incentive for winning in their age groups in the 4th Globe CitiGreen Junior Tennis Cup last October. (RSC)
