THE defending champion Don Bosco Technological Center (DBTC) made quick work of the Sisters of Mary-Boystown, 3-1, to clinch a semifinal seat in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) high school football competition at the Cebu City Sports Center yesterday.

DBTC quickly made its presence felt after Tristan Karl Enad drew first blood in just the first eight minutes of play. Josh Rupert Asignar found the back of the net a minute before the end of the first half to give DBTC a comfortable 2-0 lead.

DBTC took the fight out of its opponents after Charles Unabia scored in the 49th minute to make it 3-0. Vicent Alf Sanchez scored for the guest team, Sisters of Mary-Boystown, in the 66th minute for the final tally.

The goal of Sanchez was only the second for Sisters of Mary-Boytown team in five games.

DBTC improved to seven points and overtook the University of San Carlos-Basic Education Department (USC-Bed) for third place, while the University of Southern Philippine-Foundation (USP-F) dropped out of Final Four cast.

The fourth-seed USC-Bed has six points and USP-F has five.

DBTC will face the second-seeded University of San Jose-Recoletos in an exciting knockout semifinal clash, which starts this Saturday at the same venue. USJ-R finished the elimination round with 10 points.

USJ-R beat DBTC, 1-0, in the elimination round.

The top-seed and unscathed Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC), which had 15 wins from five wins in the elimination, will take on the USC-Bed in the other semifinal match. (RSC)
