Dragons torch Baby Warriors in Cesafi, 71-52

THE Cebu Eastern College (CEC) Dragons torched the University of San Carlos (USC) Baby Warriors, 71-52, in the 2019 Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. high school basketball tournament at the Cebu Coliseum on Sunday, September 22, 2019.

Already up by 13 at halftime, CEC took a take-no-prisoner’s approach and unloaded a 13-2 run at the onset of the third anchored on their suffocating defense, which in turn, led to easy makes in transition.

Allen Gler spearheaded that charge by scoring a lay-up and a three-pointer, while Winston Bingil and Dave Nabotas later joined in on the scoring parade that gave the Dragons a 52-27 lead. It eventually settled at 60-38 heading to the fourth canto where CEC continued to have their way and coasted to the easy win.

Dwight Buisa led the Dragons with 18 points and 10 rebounds. He also did work on the defensive end of the floor, swiping the ball away five times.

Gler finished with 16 points and five boards while Bingil had 13 points.

Justin Atilano was the lone player to reach double-figures for USC with 10. The Baby Warriors now sport a 1-2 record. (SunStar Cebu)
