Fil-Am Climaco beats Sanson in LFA 150

FILIPINO-AMERICAN mixed martial arts fighter Mark Climaco dominated previously unbeaten Mark Sanson and beat him by a convincing unanimous decision on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2023 (PH time) in the undercard of Legacy Fighting Alliance (LFA) 150 at the Mystic Lake Casino Hotel in Prior Lake, Minnesota.

The 25-year-old Climaco got the nod of all three judges with identical scores of 30-27.

Climaco, who has Cebuano roots, got his second straight win after suffering his first career defeat in the hands of Yuma Horiuchi in 2021.

Climaco improved to 8-1, while Sanson dropped to 4-1.

Climaco is currently one of the hottest prospects in the LFA right now. The LFA is one of the top developmental leagues of the UFC. LFA has sent over 260 fighters to the UFC with the likes of Kamaru Usman, Brandon Moreno, Henry Cejudo, Holly Holm and Valentina Shevchenko.

Climaco is a product of the American Kickboxing Academy, the home of some of the best MMA fighters like Daniel Cormier, Cain Velasquez, Luke Rockhold, Josh Thomson, John Fitch and Khabib Nurmagomedov.

In the main event of LFA 150, John Sweeney (12-3) defeated seven-time BJJ world champion Ary Farias (12-4) by unanimous decision.

Sweeney won with scores of 29-28, 29-27 and 29-28.
