ORIENTAL and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) Youth light flyweight champion John Paul Gabunilas outclassed Ricardo Sueno via a convincing unanimous decision in the 10-round main event of “Engkwentro 5ingko” at the Bonifacio R. Bacaltos Sports and Cultural Centrum in Sibonga, Cebu last Saturday, May 21, 2022.

Gabunilas totally dominated the fight and at times showboated to the delight of the boxing fans.

Gabunilas was too slick and talented for Sueno. He got the nod of all three judges with scores of 100-89, 98-91 and 97-92.

Sueno, who was frustrated with Gabunilas’ skill and antics, threw rabbit punches that caused a point deduction.

The 21-year-old Gabunilas won his fifth straight contest and improved to 7-1 with five knockouts.

Sueno, meanwhile, lost his third straight and fell to 10-6-4 with three knockouts.

In the main supporting bout, Rodel Wenceslao (16-19-2, 7 KOs) stopped 41-year-old veteran Mark Sales (23-45-5, 8 KOs) in the second round.

Sales, who has been fighting for 25 years as a pro, decided not to continue the fight after the second round.

In the undercard, April Jay Abne (9-1, 5 KOs) scored a second-round technical knockout of Arnold Garde (10-13-3, 4 KOs), BJ Wild (8-0, 6 KOs) remained unbeaten with a split decision victory over Jason Dogelio (10-7, 3 KOs), Berland Robles (4-0, 2 KOs) beat Reymark Alicaba (7-3, 5 KOs) by unanimous decision, Rodex Piala (5-0) won against Ivor Lastrilla (12-12-1, 7 KOs) by unanimous decision, Ian Abne (6-0, 4 KOs) outgunned Ronald Ewican (5-4, 2 KOs), Brix Piala (4-0, 1 KO) defeated Jayar Aliasot (6-4, 5 KOs), Ramil Macado (2-0, 2 KOs) demolished Jovab Lucas (4-4, 2 KOs) and Yeroge Gura (3-0, 1 KO) outpointed Vicente Bautista (5-19-4, 1 KOS).
