PROSPECTS KJ Cataraja and Esneth Domingo are helping out World Boxing Organization (WBO) flyweight champion Kosei Tanaka prepare for his upcoming title defense.

The duo from the famed ALA Gym of Cebu will be in Nagoya, Japan for two weeks as Tanaka’s sparring partners.

Tanaka will be defending his belt against Wulan Tuolehazi on Dec. 31, 2019 at the Ota-City Central Gymnasium in one of three world title fights in the year-ender boxing show in Tokyo.

“He requested for me. We’ll be here for two weeks,” Cataraja, who arrived with Domingo in Japan last Dec. 6, 2019, told SunStar Cebu. “He saw me when I was sparring with Inoue.”

Earlier this year, Cataraja, along with Jeo Santisima, helped out Japanese superstar Naoya Inoue in preparation for his World Boxing Super Series finals against Nonito Donaire Jr. last Nov. 7, 2019.

“This is a huge opportunity for us to be able to train and spar with a world champion. It’s a huge encouragement for us,” said Cataraja. (EKA)
