Kalma wins Monday Club title

THE Kalma Basketball Squad displayed its full arsenal in a 75-59 routing over PN Alumni in the championship game of the Monday Squad Basketball Club (MSBC) Basketball League Season 3 at the Casal’s Village Gym last Sunday.

Team Kalma took the lead early in the first quarter and proved to be too much for PN Alumni en route to taking the crown in the 5’10” and under basketball tournament in dominating-fashion.

JR Saga and Rannel Cortes paced Team Kalma as they combined for 44 points. The two also combined for 19 points in the opening quarter to give Team Kalma a 23-18 edge.

The bench players also stepped up for Team Kalma, pacing the team in the second quarter and limiting PN Alumni to only eight points for a double-digit edge, 37-26, at the half.

The PN Alumni tried to stage a fightback early in the third quarter but Team Kalma had the answers for every run and managed to keep a double-digit lead at 52-42 going to the final quarter.

Cortes and Saga again torched their opponents in the final quarter as they connived for 16 points to finish off PN Alumni with a 16-point edge..

Alwin Dapdap and JR Bucatan scored 13 points each, while Harold Gemida handed 11 in a losing effort for PN Alumni. (RSC)
