TOMJUNE Mangubat will fight smart and gun for a knockout against South Korean Jong Seon Kang in their World Boxing Organization (WBO) Oriental Youth featherweight bout on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2019, at the District 7 Arena in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

“Smart aggression from start to end. If possible, we don’t want it to reach 10 rounds,” Mangubat’s trainer Jinggoy Junco told SunStar Cebu.

The 22-year-old Mangubat is coming off a unanimous decision win over Joffrey Garcia on July 6, 2019 after suffering his first career loss a few months earlier.

Kang, on the other hand, had two wins and two draws this year. He is fresh from a split draw with Shokhrukh Ashurov.

Mangubat and Kang both tipped the scales at 126 pounds. Mangubat is 11-1-1 with nine knockouts, while Kang is 9-0-2 with six knockouts.

Two other Filipinos are seeing action in the undercard. Mangubat’s teammate Ponciano Remandiman (10-4-1, 5 KOs) is up against Van Thao Tran (11-0, 8 KOs) in a six-rounder. EKA
