Miranda tops January tilt

MICMIC Miranda started the year on a high note after winning the January qualifying tournament of the Cebu Tenpin Bowling Association (Cetba) at the SM City Cebu Bowling Center on Sunday.

Miranda, a 20-handicapper, scored a total of 1,354 in a six-game series to bag the first Bowler of the Month (BOM) award for this year. He beat John Galindo and Ronan Barredo, who scored 1,242 and 1,176, respectively.

Miranda, the second runner-up in the last year’s Bowler of the Year Tournament, played a solid second half with scores of 226, 222 and 213 after hitting 184, 216 and 173 in the first three games.

The 20-handicapper Galindo had scores of 154, 205, 189, 169, 226 and 179, while Barredo, also a 20-handicapper, fired 174, 198, 154, 191, 188 and 151.

Jojo Andal finished at fourth place with a score of 1,156 and senior bowler Ging Francisco at fifth place with 1,151.

Other players who made the top 10 were Jerry Davis (1,141), Sonia Gakenholz (1,137), Fel Alasagasc (1,129), Baby Bacon (1,127) and Boy Gacho (1,125).

Meanwhile, senior bowler Joseph Yu (841) and Cynthia Uybengkee (820) ruled the men’s and women’s division of the Cetba Friday Group Tournament. (RSC)
