THE NorthCebu baseball team made their presence felt in the Little League Philippine Series Visayas Elimination in Dumaguete after winning the gold medal in the seniors division.

NorthCebu, composed of players from Carmen and Tuburan, turned back Negros Occidental, 4-1, in the championship match on April 13, Saturday, in Dumaguete City.

The seniors division was for baseball players aged 15 to 16.

NorthCebu seniors team flexed their muscles before going to the 2019 Palarong Pambansa in Davao City, as they went undefeated from the get-go.

NorthCebu opened the annual tournament with a 19-0 routing of Bayawan City, followed with a closely contested 8-7 win against Negros Occidental, and a 7-6 triumph over host team Dumaguete City.

NorthCebu fashioned out a convincing 11-1 win against Bayawan City in the semifinals before beating Negros Occidental in the championship showdown.

NorthCebu coach Mark Arsenio Davidon said that seven of the senior players are bound for the Palarong Pambansa on April 27 to May 4 in Davao City. The rest of the players were members of the gold medal team in the Batang Pinoy Regional Finals in Iloilo City two months ago.

Davidon said that the Little League stint was a perfect preparation for the Cebu players before the Palarong Pambansa.

NorthCebu also went home with a silver medal from the Minor division (8-10). The team fell short against Dumaguate in the best-of-three championship.

The Top 3 teams in every division earned a slot to the Little League National Finals in Koronadal City, South Cotabato. (RSC)
