Pingris named commissioner of Pilipinas Super League

Jonas N. Panerio

PHILIPPINE basketball legend Marc Pingris has been named the commissioner of the brand-new regional league Pilipinas Super League.

The many-time champion recently retired from playing professional basketball and even had his jersey retired by the Magnolia Hotshots on Christmas Day last year. However, it appears that the 40-year-old will still have a presence in basketball as he leads the Super League, which is tentatively set to open in March.

“We are so happy to have the one and only Pinoy Sakuragi sa Liga ng Pinoy,” read the league’s statement.

“We have the same vision and goals with Marc that is why it felt like a match made in heaven. Coming from humble beginnings, Marc also serves as an inspiration and role model to our players,” the statement continued.
