Powerfloor rules Davies Paints Cup

POWERFLOOR bagged the Architects+Engineers(A+E) Basketball Davies Paints Cup 2018 after a 69-44 beating of Liquid-Tile last Feb. 16, at the University of San Carlos (USC) Main Gym.

Powerfloor capped its unbeaten season by winning the title convincingly against the third-ranked Liquid-Tile.

Powerfloor immediately took a 17-8 lead after a quarter of action before making it 37-17 at halftime. Liquid-Tile, who had an off night from its star Michael Cinco, fought back in the third round and trimmed the lead to 16 points, 47-31.

Powerfloor was way too much for Liquid-Tile and outscored them, 22-13, in the final quarter for a 25-point victory.

Ayi Armenion led Powerfloor with 16 points, eight boards and a steal. Lawrence Gayotin had a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds. He was named the Finals MVP.

Ralph Catugas scored 19 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead Liquid-Tile, while Elmer Laguna 12 markers. Cinco, who was big for Liquid-Tile all season-long, was scoreless in 19 minutes of action. He, however, bagged Season MVP honors and the scoring title.

Mondo Skim Coat won third place with an 88-68 rout of Bio-Fresh.

Jonas Panerio had a huge night with 26 markers, six boards and two steals for Mondo Skim Coat. Justin Aspacio added 20, Bong Gabison chipped in 15 and Darwin Tan added 10.

Monticristo Salvador had a game-high 28 points, 11 rebounds and a steal. Chris Mantal added 19, while Jonathan Suico almost had a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds.

Gayotin, Armenion, Cinco, Gabison and Mondo Skim Coat’s Darren Morandante were named into the Mythical Five. (EKA)
