WHETHER or not they would have an import or not, Cebuano behemoth June Mar Fajardo says he would be bringing his A-game when the San Miguel Beermen faces off against the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters in the PBA Governors’ Cup at the Hoops Dome in Lapu-Lapu City on Saturday, November 9, 2019.

The reigning league Most Valuable Player is coming off a massive 30-point, 13-rebound performance that helped the Beermen vanquish Blackwater in overtime, 99-96, in their game on Wednesday night, November 6.

After the game, it remained unclear if the Beermen’s import, Dez Wells, would be able to suit up this weekend because of a severe ankle sprain that kept him out of their game versus Blackwater.

Regardless, Fajardo says he is ready to give it his all, especially if they go all-Filipino.

“I don’t know if we would be having a new import or not. I really thought he would be able to play this weekend,” said the University of Cebu product in an exclusive talk with SunStar Cebu.

“But no matter what happens, we all need to step up so that we can get a win over a strong opponent like Rain or Shine.”

Although Rain or Shine is sporting a dismal 2-7 slate, they remain a team to be reckoned with especially with the presence of stalwarts James Yap, Beau Belga, Gabe Norwood and Rey Nambatac.

The victory propped up San Miguel’s record to 6-3 with just two more games left on their schedule.

Fajardo added that he along with the rest of his teammates are excited to make their way down south to play in front of the Cebuanos.

“Excited nako muduwa atubangan sa mga Cebuanos kay dugay nako wala kaduwa sa Cebu. Unya chance na sad ni sa mga Cebuano na makita ilang mga idols sa personal (I'm excited to play in front of Cebuanos because it's been quite some time since I played in Cebu. It's also a chance for Cebuanos to see their idols in person),” said the gentle giant.
