THE Cebu City Sharks will hold a two-day tryout at the Capitol Parish Gym on April 1 and 2 for new players for the next Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) season.

The Sharks posted in their official Facebook account that they will be holding two tryouts open to basketball enthusiasts, amateur basketball players and pro players who are younger than 35 years old.

Sharks head coach Titing Manalili is specific with what he’s looking for and what the team lacks in Cebu City’s second season in the MPBL.

“We need a point guard who is a scorer, a wingman who is a shooter and an experienced big man,” said Manalili.

The Sharks bowed out of the first round of the playoffs after being swept by the South Division No. 1 seed Davao Oriental Tigers.

The Sharks lost in Game 1, 82-67, in Davao City and then lost Game 2, 76-69.

Cebu City was without leading scorer Patrick Cabahug in the playoffs after losing him to an ankle sprain.

Despite getting swept in the playoffs, Manalili was still proud of his boys in their inaugural campaign in the MPBL.

“What I can say with the performance of that team in the MPBL is that we are good enough because we were able to enter the playoffs. Being first-timers and with lack of quality players, we were still able to reach the playoffs,” he said. (EKA)
