SWU Cobras beat USC for first win

THE Southwestern University (SWU-Phinma) Cobras took down the undermanned University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors, 80-73, for their first win in the 2018 Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) Partner’s Cup 2018 in the Cebu Coliseum yesterday.

SWU’s Shaq Imperial torched USC with his 29 points, while Reeve Ugsar added 10 points.

The Cobras weathered the late USC surge in the fourth quarter to walk away with their first win after three games.

The SWU led in the first quarter 22-17 led by Imperial’s 10-point opening quarter outburst.

Imperial continued with his hot shooting in the second quarter, scoring nine points and SWU-Phinma had a 36-33 edge at the half before crusing to a 61-54 lead at the end of the third quarter.

The Warriors were playing their first game without key player John Saycon, who was was suspended for the rest of the Partner’s Cup.

Lucky Ecarma had 23 for the Warriors, who dropped to 2-2 win loss card. (RSC)
