The University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers snapped a two-game slide with a resounding 77-69 win over the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Jaguars in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (CESAFI) Season 22 collegiate basketball tournament on Tuesday night at the Cebu Coliseum.

Speedy guard Zylle Cabellon notched 19 points and six rebounds to help UV push their win-loss record to 7-2 with one more game remaining on their elimination round slate.

Regardless of the result of that match, the Green Lancers are already assured of the top seed in the semifinal round. They will be taking on the fourth seed armed with a twice-to-beat advantage.

The loss dropped the Jaguars to an even 4-4.

Meanwhile, the City of Bogo Science and Arts Academy (CBSAA) Trailblazers stretched their winning streak to eight games after they mauled the USJ-R Baby Jaguars, 84-69.

The victory was redemption of sorts for CBSAA head coach Leode Garcia who was given the pink slip as the Jaguars’ head coach not long before the Cesafi season started a few months ago.

Junel Colubio led CBSAA’s attack with an impressive double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds.
