PROMISING prospect Jayson Vayson suffered his first career defeat after a unanimous decision shutout in the hands of Japanese champion Seigo Yuri Akui on Saturday, last Feb. 4, 2023, at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.

Akui totally outclassed Vayson with lopsided scores of 100-90 on all three scorecards.

Vayson dropped to 10-1-1 with five knockouts, while Akui won his sixth straight contest and improved to 18-2-1 with 11 knockouts.

On the other hand, three other Pinoy warriors also lost their respective fights on the same card.

The 24-year-old Vayson recently showed so much promise. He was impressive against world-rated Tibo Monabesa last year but the fight was declared a no-contest after it initially ended in a controversial majority decision win for the Indonesian veteran.

He won the vacant World Boxing Council Asian Boxing Council Continental light flyweight strap with a split decision over Nutlai Lalbiakkima also in 2022.

Kyosuke Takami (3-0, 3 KOs) stopped Reymark Alicaba (8-4, 6 KOs) in the fifth round, Hiyoga Miyata (1-0) had a successful pro debut with a unanimous decision over Ernesto Cagampang (4-3-1, 4 KOs) and Ryusei Matsumoto (1-0, 1 KO) also had an impressive pro debut with a third-round knockout of Erson Trinidad (5-2-1, 3 KOs).
