Yap suffers second straight loss in Las Vegas

VETERAN Marjohn Yap suffered his second straight defeat after losing to Angel Alejandro by unanimous decision on Sunday, Nov. 24, 2019, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. After six rounds, all three judges saw Alejandro winning with scores of 59-55, 58-56 and 58-56. The 30-year-old Yap, once based in Cebu, suffered his second straight loss. He lost to Angelo Leo back in June. Yap dropped to 30-15 with 15 knockouts, while Alejandro remained unbeaten with 8-0 with four knockouts. Meanwhile, Pinoy journeyman Jhon Gemino (21-12-1, 11 KOs) scored a fifth-round knockout upset of previously unbeaten prospect Arnold Alejandro (11-1, 10 KOs) in the same show. (EKA)
