67 cops reassigned

A TOTAL of 67 cops affiliated or related to a poll candidate seeking for a post this coming midterm election were relieved and were temporarily transferred to a different police unit in the region.

Police Chief Inspector Jason Baria, spokesperson of Police Regional Office (PRO)-Davao Region, bared that there are a total of four Police Commissioned Officer (PCO) and 63 Police Non-Commissioned Officer (PNCO) who were reassigned to other areas so that they will not influence their relatives' candidacy up to fourth consanguinity.

For PCO, they have a record of one chief inspector, two senior inspectors and one inspector while on the part of the PNCO, there are a total of four Senior Police Officers 4 (SPO4), four SPO3, six SPO2, nine SPO1, fourteen PO3, fourteen PO2 and twelve PO1.

For a PNCO personnel with relation to a running candidate, there are 11 personnel whose father or mother is a candidate, while ten have brother or sister, 24 have aunt, uncle or nephew who are running for a position, and 18 cousin.

“All in all 67. Ito po ang pina-relieve sa mga present unit nila then (for deployment) to other provinces within Davao region (due to) consanguinity and affiliated with the politicians,” Baria said.

PRO-Davao Region regional director Police Chief Superintendent Marcelo Morales ordered their relief to prevent conflict of interest issues involving their personnel and promote impartiality.
