AN ESTIMATED 80 cases of measles were recorded in Davao City from September to October this year.

“Hindi naman siya dumami pero we still have cases on measles sa ngayon, (It did not increase but we still have cases on measles),” Davao City Health Office (CHO) Technical Division head doctor Julinda Acosta said Saturday, November 10.

Acosta added that the number of cases decreased than in the first half of this year.

She also said that the few reported cases of measles do not only affect infants but also those adults in the 20s age range who were not eligible for vaccination. There are some kids who had measles and were eligible to be immunized but their parents refused.

Acosta said the number of measles suspect cases will still be investigated by district to scrutinize if all the patients recorded in Southern Philippines Medical Center live in the city.

They will also examine the immunization history of the patient. (RJC)
