MANAY, Davao Oriental -- Patrolman Police Officer (PO) 1 Pat Nonie Lad Badbadon was already lifeless and soaking in his own blood with gunshot wound in the head when he was discovered 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 27, inside 1st Davao Oriental Police Mobile Force Company (DOPMFC) in Barangay San Ignacio, Manay.

According to the initial investigation of the Scene of the Crime Operatives (Soco) and the Manay Police Station, the victim was thought to have killed himself and that no foul play was discovered.

“Marami pa kaming i-consider sa investigation, hindi lang hanggang suicide lang kami. Ongoing pa rin ang aming ballistic and autopsy, pumayag naman ang relatives for autopsy (We’re considering a lot more during the investigation, we won’t limit it to suicide. The ballistic and autopsy are ongoing. The relatives of the victims have also approved of the autopsy),” said Police Major Neil Richard Regalado, chief of the Manay MPS during a phone interview with Superbalita Davao Tuesday.

In line with what happened, Sammy Badbadon, uncle of the victim, refused to believe that it was suicide as they have observed he has no problems, no girlfriend, and the only thing that keeps him busy is reading the word of God.

“Buot ni siyang mag-pastor, imposible kaayo nga mag-suicide ni. Dili mi katuo, kay una kung suicide, nasayod siya nga sala kini. Ikaduha, walay uyab ning bataa kay sa Sta. Ana PNP pa ni siya na-assign sa una. Sa akoa ni tigsaka, walay uyab bisan sa iyang pagbalhin sa Manay PNP. (He wants to be a pastor. It would be impossible that he would kill himself. We can’t believe because first, he knows that it would be a sin. Second, he doesn’t have a girlfriend. He used to be assigned at Sta. Ana PNP, he doesn’t have a girlfriend even after he was transferred to Manay PNP),” Badbadon said in the interview.

When PO1 Badbadon was discovered lifeless and already soaking in his own blood, he was holding on his right hand pointing to his head a .9mm gun issued to him.

“Isang tama lang sa ulo from right to left temple (Only one shot in the head which went from right temple passing through the left),” said Police Major Regalado.

The remains of PO1 Badbadon are still undergoing autopsy.
