Cops recover P2.5-M illegal drugs

THE Davao City Police Office (DCPO) recovered P2.5 million worth of illegal drugs and arrested two suspects during a drug bust Sunday evening, September 2, 2019, at Quirino Avenue corner Camus St., Davao City.

A police auxiliary was also arrested in a separate operation.

Based on the police report, the Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) of Toril Police Station conducted an entrapment operation at a certain inn along Quirino, where they nabbed two drug suspects.

The suspects were identified as Patrick Villanueva, 40, single, jobless and a resident of Lopzcom, Diversion Road, Davao City and; Arnel Gocotano, 39, married, jobless, resident of Purok 1, Gamaon District, Mangagoy, Bislig City.

The suspects sold one medium-size rectangular heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance believed to be shabu to undercover police in exchange for a genuine P1,000 bill and six pieces of counterfeit P1,000 bills.

Recovered from the possession of the suspects are one camouflage sling bag marked containing one big size tied transparent cellophane, two pieces jumbo-size rectangular-shaped heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet, two pieces medium size rectangular shape heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet with an estimated Dangerous Drug Board (DDB) value of P2.5 million.

The tied cellophane and sachets contained white crystalline substance believed to be shabu.

In a separate operation on Monday, September 2, at about 1:30 a.m., the joint elements of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA 11) and Intelligence Branch of DCPO, and San Pedro Police Station conducted a joint buy-bust operation along Topaz Street, Marfori Subdivision, Barangay 9-A, Davao City.

The operation resulted in the arrest of the suspect identified as Edmundo Quimpan Biojon Jr. alias “Pagud”, 35, single, PS2 police auxiliary, resident of Block 1, lot 47, Phase 1, SIR Sandawa, Brgy. 76-A, Davao City.

Considered a high-value target (HVT), Biojon sold a square heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride to a police operative who posed as a buyer in exchange of the P2,000 buy-bust boodle money.

The police report read that the arrested suspect was hired as police auxiliary last August and is also a repeat offender for same criminal offenses. He was apprehended on March 15, 2015 in a buy-bust operation by Talomo Police Station and was able to avail for plea bargaining for a lesser offense.

The suspect was released from Ma-a City Jail last February 12.

A complaint for violation of section 5 and 11 of Republic Act (RA) 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act is being prepared for filing in court against the suspect.
