THE Davao Association of Catholic Schools (Dacs) will hold the Ginoo and Binibining Diwa 2018 on Tuesday, September 25, in support to different advocacies that is beneficial for Davao City and its residents.

Dacs-OSA chair Cynthia Gallenero said the event is a competition of advocacies. Each pair will present and defend their societal or environmental advocacies to the panel of judges.

“This is quite different. This is not a beauty pageant per se. This is actually an advocacy competition so representatives from different schools will be defending their advocacy,” Gallenero said during the Kapehan sa Dabaw at The Annex of SM City Davao on Monday, September 24.

“This is a kind of event where each school will have a representative who would present an outreach program,” Dacs executive director Jimmie Loe Vega said, adding that it will also give each school the chance to decide on what they intend to do to also contribute for community development.

“Yung advocacy ng mananalong pair, yun yung aming susuportahan. DACS will be supporting its implementation,” Gallenero said.

The proposal of advocacy comprises the 60 percent of the criteria while the remaining 40 percent will be on how each pair will be able to defend it.

“Ang advocacy talaga ang pinu-push, not as individual or pair,” she said.

The screening of the candidates was held last September 21 with five schools entered.

Dacs is hopeful that on their second year, all the 14-member schools will also join. (LHC)
