DAVAO City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio is currently under mandatory 14-day home quarantine after returning from her out-of-town leave.

Duterte-Carpio said this on Friday, October 9, during her regular live radio interview via 87.5 FM Davao City Disaster Radio.

When asked about her condition, the mayor said, "OK lang ko (I am OK.). I just needed to assist someone maong kinahanglan ko magleave kay kinahanglan ko mag-out of town (that’s why I took a leave because I needed to go out-of-town)," Duterte-Carpio said.

The mayor said she is observing the two-week self-quarantine, which she had also been urging those people arriving in the city.

Duterte-Carpio returned to work on October 6 after a week-long leave for “medical reasons” from September 28 to October 5.

The mayor, during the radio interview, did not further disclose the details of her trip. She also did not reveal the person whom she assisted during her leave.

A published online article of a national broadsheet on September 30 said Duterte-Carpio allegedly left the country for Singapore on September 29 via Singapore Airlines from Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3. No official statement from the mayor was issued confirming nor denying the said report.

This is the second time the mayor was placed under self-quarantine. The first one was on March 12, after she had direct contact with Senator Sherwin "Win" Gatchalian who was in close contact with a Covid-19 patient.

The Davao City Health Office (CHO) eventually discontinued her voluntary isolation on March 13, after a confirmation effort conducted by the City Mayor's Office with the office of the senator, stating that the senator did not have physical contact with the Covid-19 patient.

The city mayor immediately resumed her self-quarantine on March 17 after Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri tested positive for Covid-19 on March 16, whom she had close contact with. Zubiri eventually recovered from the disease.

Duterte-Carpio officially went back to work on Thursday, March 26, after finishing her mandatory 14-day quarantine.
