A PEACE rally that will be held today, March 27, is expected to gather hundreds of people coming from different sectoral organizations in Mindanao.

The Eastern Mindanao Command (Eastmincom) on Monday directed its lower units to extend assistance and secure the activity.

In a directive, Eastmincom public information officer Major Ezra Balagtey said military units were instructed to coordinate with the organizers, members of the Philippine National Police (PNP), and Local Government Units (LGUs).

He said this is to ensure the peaceful and orderly conduct of the activity and mitigate the inconvenience that it may cause to the public.

The rally aims to call for the immediate cessation of conflicts and to encourage New People's Army (NPA) members to surrender and go back to the mainstream society.
