IN PHOTOS: Aftermath of October 29 quake in Mindanao

ANOTHER shallow, tectonic earthquake, with greater magnitude of 6.6, shook parts of Mindanao Tuesday, October 29, 2019.

The quake was plotted at 25 kilometers southeast of Tulunan, North Cotabato at a depth of seven kilometers at 9:04 a.m. Tuesday.

It was the second tremor to hit the same area in about two weeks. The first was a magnitude 6.3 quake with a depth of eight kilometers at 7:37 p.m. on October 16, 2019.

During Tuesday's quake, one person was confirmed dead after he was hit by falling debris in Koronadal City, South Cotabato while 43 were injured in Kidapawan City and M'lang town in Cotabato.

In Tulunan, which is near the epicenter, three of the four school buildings in Daig Elementary School collapsed, causing injuries to around 15 students and teachers.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the quake was felt at intensity 7 in Tulunan and Makilala in Cotabato, Kidapawan City, and Malungon in Sarangani.

It was felt at intensity 6 in Davao City, Koronadal City and Cagayan de Oro City.

It was also felt at intensity 5 in Tampakan, Surallah and Tupi, South Cotabato; and Alabel, Sarangani; intensity 4 in General Santos City and Kalilangan, Bukidnon; intensity 3 in Sergio Osmeña Sr., Zamboanga del Norte; Zamboanga City; Dipolog City; Molave, Zamboanga del Norte; and Talakag, Bukidnon; and intensity 1 in Camiguin and Mambajao.

Instrumental intensities were recorded in the following areas: Intensity 7 -- Kidapawan City; Malungon, Sarangani; Intensity 5 -- Alabel, Sarangani; Tupi, South Cotabato; Intensity 4 -- Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental; General Santos City; Intensity 2 -- Zamboanga City; and Intensity 1 -- Dipolog City; Bislig City; and Palo, Leyte.
