Mayor-elect Baste: Davao City to continue to invest in health

DAVAO City Mayor-elect Sebastian Z. Duterte said the city will continue to invest in the health sector, especially in terms of infrastructure and Covid-19 response.

“To enhance the city’s health sector, the LGU (Local Government Unit) will ensure the sweep construction of the 100 bed state-of-the-art Davao City Public Hospital,” Duterte said during his inaugural speech on June 27, 2022 outside the Davao City Hall.

Duterte said the construction of the public hospital is to cater the growth of the city.

“Nagadako g’yud ang syudad, magkadungag g’yud ang serbisyo sa gobyerno ilabi na sa pag-abot sa (The city is growing so the government needs to add more services especially in) health, housing and other basic services that we should offer to you,” Duterte said.

The city government has allocated P250,000,000 for the construction of the hospital at the University of the Philippines-Mindanao grounds in Barangay Mintal. It will also allow the city to start its land development.

It is targeted to be a Level III Training and Covid-19 response hospital that will provide services for all kinds of illnesses, diseases, injuries, and deformities.

Duterte also said the district hospitals will be upgraded. The city also targets to open more Botika ng Bayan.

Meanwhile, Duterte said the vaccination drive against Covid-19 will continue as the pandemic has not yet ended. KSD
