THE designer of this year’s finisher’s medal for the Alveo Ironman 70.3 Davao urged athletes to take part in advocating for long lasting peace in Mindanao.

The medal’s design was unveiled Friday afternoon during the Meet With the Pros press conference at The Enderun Tent, Azuela Cove.

Well-renowned Davao artist Kublai Millan once again designed the finisher’s medal with the theme “I Am for Peace”.

Millan explained the abstract behind his design, wherein the dove shape represents peace, while the wooden pendant represents Mindanao’s tri-people: the indigenous peoples, the Christian settlers and the Moro people.

He thanked the organizers for selecting him once again to design the medal of the biggest triathlon race in this part of the country.

“We, as Mindanaoans were able to express our sentiments for peace through this medal,” Millan said.

He then encouraged the athletes to take a selfie, and post it on their social media accounts, with the phrase “I raced for peace”.
