PSA official: No way of correcting wrong info on PhilSys ID, yet

Krizzy S. Daugdaug

AN official from the Philippine Statistics Authority-Davao del Sur (PSA-Davao del Sur) said there is no way to update the incorrect information of the Philippine Identification System card (PhilSys) holder yet.

“Hindi pa po kami maka-update ng mga correction of entries gaya nong nagkamali ang spelling ng name, nag-change ng status (Currently, we cannot update or make corrections like misspelled names or update their civil status),” Munria Banto, Registration Officer, PSA-Davao del Sur, said during the Ispeak press conference on February 2, 2023.

However, Banto said individuals who have incorrect information on their PhilSys card may report it to their office.

“Kasi kailangan namin ng information nila, ‘yong contact number, address at kung ano ‘yong concern nila kasi pag dumating na ‘yong updating of system namin makokontak namin sila (Because we need their contact details, address, and their concerns, so that we can reach out to them once we are able to update the system),” Banto said.

She said their office has been receiving complaints about the information of some individuals in the province including distorted pictures, wrong spelling of names, and wrong addresses, among others.

Banto said PSA might release an update this year and will announce when the cardholders will be able to update their information in the system. KSD
