Pulong: Don't drag my name into Speakership race

AS THE race for the next House Speaker heats up, Davao City First District Congressman Paolo “Pulong” Duterte appealed to the aspirants to spare him.

The Presidential son issued a statement Sunday, June 30, after one camp allegedly dropped his name as a supporter.

Lawmakers who are gunning for the House speakership are PDP-Laban endorsed Marinduque Representative Lord Allan Velasco, Taguig Pateros Representative Alan Peter Cayetano, and Leyte Representative Martin Romualdez.

The younger Duterte emphasized that although they are friends, their friendship has limitations. He did not name names.

The first-time congressman encouraged his fellow congressmen to be careful in selecting the successor of outgoing Speaker Gloria Arroyo.

(Juliet C. Revita)
