A RETIRED policeman and his wife's niece died while his wife is in critical condition after a shooting incident at their house around 2 p.m. last Saturday, October 27, in Sitio Basak, Tugbok District, Davao City.

Chief Inspector Paulino Zaulda Jr., Tugbok Police Station chief, said based on their initial investigation, the retired cop identified as Rey Aguiling appeared to have shot his wife and her niece before he shot himself using a .22 pistol.

"Lima yung putok na narinig ng kapitbahay; dalawa ang tama sa pamangkin ng asawa nitong pulis, dalawang tama sa asawa yung kay Madam, at isa ang tama sa ulo nitong retired police," Zaulda said during a phone interview with SuperBalita Wednesday, October 31.

Aguiling's wife is in critical condition at the Davao Doctors Hospital.

The family of the victims refused to give details, saying that they are leaving the investigation of the case to the police.

Zaulda revealed that last week, Aguiling reported his wife to the police for alleged cheating.

Aquiling's wife and her alleged lover were arrested but were able to post bail last Saturday.

On the same day, Aquiling and his wife had a big fight when the wife arrived home. His wife's niece came to pacify them, but then five gunshots rang out.
