THE Tagum Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (DRRMO) continues to monitor the neighboring municipalities for possible flooding.

"We're still on monitoring kay naa naman puy tropical depression nga coming unya naa puy advisory ang Office of Civil Defense [OCD] nga naa puy moderate to heavy rain (There will be another tropical depression and there’s also an OCD advisory that there will be moderate to heavy rains)," acting Disaster Risk Reduction Management officer Lucresio Duida said in an interview with SunStar Davao Thursday, January 31.

Duida added that Kapalong’s water level in the evening of January 31 was raised into alert level one which is considered to be beyond the normal level.

"Sa pagkakaron [January 31] ang mga naay portion-portion nalang ang submerged pa gyud sa tubig baha like Busaon although nag-reduce na ang tubig pero og light vehicles tong portion sa purok 4,5 ug 6 dili gihapon passable (As of now, Barangay Busaon still has some portions which were still submerged in flood and impassable for light vehicles)," he said.

He added that Tagum City continues to extend relief operation to the affected families of the city.

Meanwhile, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa)-Davao Region weather observer Al Lumaad said on on Thursday, January 31 that northeast monsoon which brings cloudy to cloudy with isolated light rains might continue until the last week of February 2019. Lumaad added that the cold weather will still persist up to an undetermined date due to the tailend of the cold front’s constant changes.
