TO HELP boost the economy of Davao City, the Tourism Information Center was launched on Friday, September 14, at the Francisco Bangoy International Airport.

"Very important ang tourism information counter kasi parang ito yung frontline mo for mga visitors natin especially those coming in by air," Generose Tecson, head of the City Tourism Operations Office, said during the event.

"They [visitors] get to ask about the services, sites and destinations in Davao City, so malaki yung impact niya sa economic, social, recreational stop we have here," she added.

The tourism information center was sponsored by the PLDT Smart and its launching was attended by PLDT Smart VisMin Regional Sales and Distribution head Hoyle Disuanco.

"Hindi lang po tayo nag-open ng tourism desk but we offer support," Disuanco said during the event, adding that they will commit to continue to support the city through partnership on programs for development.

Vice Mayor Bernard Al-ag said there is a need for the private sector’s support in Davao City.

The desk will be opened starting Saturday, September 15, until 12 midnight daily.

Tecson said that they might invite on-the-job-training students to be trained to answer queries of tourists. (LHC)
