PILIPINAS Sambo will compete in the World Youth and Juniors Sambo Championships set October 11 to 15 in Tbilisi, Georgia.

This will be Pilipinas Sambo's fourth international campaign of the year following their Baikal Cup stint last September 5 in Irkutsk, Russia, Mongolian Sambo Federation Championships in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia last May and the 1st Southeast Asia (SEA) Sambo Championship last April 11 and 12 at the Lagoon Hotel Sultan, Senayan in Jakarta.

Competing abroad is among of Pilipinas Sambo's program that aims to mold elite athletes to become globally competitive.

Pilipinas Sambo secretary-general Paolo Tancontian will lead the team of her daughter Sydney, a Southeast Asian Games 2017 judo bronze medalist, and Jedd Dino Kim in the world class event that expects some 60 countries across the globe.

The younger Tancontian, who is currently training sambo in Singapore and constantly cross training in wrestling and judo, will compete in women’s +75 category.

Kim, a brown belt judoka who hails from Baguio City and currently training in Dubai, will test his mettle in the men’s -74 category.
