TRIATHLON Philippine Team member Eduard Moritz Leuenberger will beef up Davao City's triathlon team in the upcoming Philippine National Games (PNG) 2018 Triathlon Competition in Tabuelan, Cebu on May 23.

Leuenberger's father Ed, in an interview with SunStar Davao at the Kalye't-Kusina Resto Thursday, said his son had been joining different triathlon camps in the country since March and is ready to join seasoned triathletes of Davao City including Peter Villocino and Nestor Madula Jr.

"Well prepared na si Mo (Leuenberger) and I am expecting na he could go for third in the 18 years old and below age group," the proud father said.

The 17-year-old triathlete from Davao City finished fourth overall in the just-concluded Dipolog 10.5 last week.

Eduard also joined the Subic International Triathlon (Subit) race last April 21 after joining a 10-day camp in Baguio City last April 20.

Eduard started the grueling training last March 26 in Cagayan de Oro City and Bukidnon City in preparation for the PNG.

"Will go for good executions po to have a good result," Leuenberger, who eyes for a podium finish, said.

He expects tough competition from Bukidnon City bet Jacob Taylor, Cebu's Renz Corbin and Tonito Alero of Iligan City.

"If maganda po ang finish ko sa swim kaya ko na makipagsabayan sa bike and sa run," he added.

The triathlon team will be coached by Patrick Serrano.
