RMC captures Balangay title

THE Rizal Memorial Colleges (RMC) emerged 11 mix champion in the recently-concluded 10th Balangay Football Festival held in Butuan City.

Roli Caasi, who blasted the winning goal in the Davao City-based team’s 1-0 finals win over Plantation Football Club (FC), was hailed most valuable player (MVP) of the division. Both teams figured in a scoreless draw in the elimination.

RMC’s Jansen Durangparang and Mark Tabigue were awarded the best goalkeeper and best defender titles, respectively, while Plantation FC’s Adrian Marzan copped the best striker award.

RMC, coached by Warren Ravanes, also defeated Camp Kalaw, 2-0, in their semifinals encounter with goals coming from Luke Lacia and Steffanie Escalante.

The Dabawenyos also grabbed victories of Westana Surigao (7-0) behind the goals of Lacia, Escalante, Caasi, JM Balico, Xander Perez, Van Pancho and Mark Tabigue.

Lacia also lifted RMC to a 1-0 triumph in another preliminary game.

The festival was presented by the city government of Butuan.
