ORGANIZERS of the “Summer Fun in Dahican - Amihan National Skimboarding Competition” in partnership with Visit Davao Summer Festival plan to take the sports activity to an international level.

Peter Andaya of the 2nd Amihan National Skimboarding Competition said they are ready to stage an international event for the Skimboarding competition.

“We are aiming for international next year, two years ago we already considered it, and we think we can do it with the venue and accommodation,” he said.

He mentioned Filipino skim boarders have been joining international events for years, it is now time to conduct one here.

He added the best time to stage the international competition is when the waves are standing 10 to 20 feet.

At present, local organizers are still securing enough funding for staging the event.

For this year, around 100 participating skim boarders are expected to join the competition slated 26 to 29 at the Amihan Beach in Dahican, Mati City.

Participants will be coming from Leyte, General Santos City, Negros, Digos City, Davao City, and Cagayan de Oro City, among others.

Meanwhile, another event dubbed as Bonamine Ultimate Beach Frisbee Tournament set on April 27-29 at the Menzi Beach Park Campsite in Dahican will gather 13 teams from around the country.

Furthermore, the longest-running cross channel triathlon in the Davao region, dubbed as "Air Asia Durianman Cross Channel Triathlon", will also unfurl on April 29 from Davao City to the Island Garden City of Samal (Igacos).
