Trangia, Lumangtad clinch chess titles

ENTREPRENEUR Jimzon Trangia and Aliyah Rae Lumangtad shared top honors at the close of Hungry Ape Kiddies and Youth Chess Challenge at Felcris Centrale Mall Area recently.

Trangia, founder of Jimzon Pomade, earned a total of 4.5 points after the five-round Swiss System format chessfest organized by the Blue Knights Chess Society to romp away with the youth division title.

The 25-year-old outclassed four-pointers Kurt John Placencia and Niel Sebastian Enoc who placed second and third, respectively.

Davao City chess prodigy Wesley Jovan Magbanua finished fourth (3.5).

Meanwhile, Lumangtad edged fellow four-pointer Kian Geverola to annex the kiddies crown after five rounds.

Nathaniel Lozada, however, placed third with 3.5 points, followed by 3.5-pointers Ryan Gabriel Rasay and Shane Caerel Mantilla in the next two spots.

The winners received medals and cash prizes. The event was presented by Felcris Centrale and sponsored by Hungry Ape.
