Apple’s Influence

It’s no denying that Apple wields a powerful influence over the tech world. It’s so much influence that because of a schedule conflict, OnePlus moved its launching of the 6T a day earlier than it was originally announced. In their post, OnePlus said that they were preparing for our greatest and most exciting launch event yet. The next, we were posed with a difficult question: “What do we do now?”

That’s the kind of heft Apple has. Although I wouldn’t be surprised as well if the other big tech companies will have the same kind of effect on whoever their peers are.

So, yeah, if you’re up for OnePlus 6T event, it’ll be on October 29 at 11 a.m. US EDT; that’s October 30 at 11 p.m. Philippine Standard Time. You can watch it live from their website.

The State of Mobile Video

Of late, video content has been on the rise. More and more people are getting into creating video content and a lot of these videos are viewed on mobile devices. I’d expect it so especially since much of the world and video consumers are almost all the time on their mobile devices. It’s only natural.

OpenSignal, a mobile analytics company, recently released a report on the state of mobile video on a global scale. I already have that report in my desktop and I’ll be diving deeper into it in the next few days. Hopefully, I’ll write about it on my next column issue.

Meshed Up

Lately, I’ve been encountering more and more mentions of mesh Wi-Fi. Probably because I’ve been reading up a lot about it lately and my search engines are learning what I’ve been preferring of late. In any case, it’s an interesting take on implementing Wi-Fi at home. Instead of buying Wi-Fi extenders and repeaters and additional routers to extend your Wi-Fi range and connectivity, you just buy a single system. One mesh Wi-Fi system to rule your entire household.

Here’s a quick roundup from Armando Ferreira.
