Y-Speak: Indie music around us

Sunnexdesk

INDIE music is often left forgotten by people. They are too engaged with pop music that they forget the real jewels of music. Indie music is relatable and has substance on its lyrics. People tend to listen to the rhythm and beat of a song, but the most important part is the depth and the feeling that it is trying to give forth.

The best part about indie music is that it gives the people a chance to empathize. The writers often write about what they truly feel and its sincerity is evident in every word that is sung. What indie music aims to do is to be heard, not because they want fame, but because its reach to the audience is more important rather than creating a song that has no purpose.

Some pop songs are written to please the people’s ears but indie music aims to please the heart. Plenty are not well-accustomed with indie music. Some even say it’s boring but for people who aim to be different, indie music is the way to go.

Because of its unique musicality, not a lot of people relate to it, that’s why it is just put aside. It reaches a rather small crowd and that makes the music more intimate to people who are listening to it and more fond of it. (Trisha S. Atanosa/Multimedia Arts, Malayan Colleges Mindanao)
