THE City Government continues to undertake the disinfection and sanitization of streets and other public places to help stem the spread of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

Dems Rey Demecillo, City Public Information Officer, said Friday, March 27 that the City Government has partnered with the private sector, such as the Filipino-Chinese Fire Brigade, and personnel from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office of the City’s Inter-Agency Task Force Covid-19 for this undertaking.

On Thursday evening, March 26, the Filipino-Chinese Fire Brigade, headed by its fire chief Benjamin Locsin along with their volunteers, including businessmen in the city and the province carried out disinfection activities along Perdices Street, the city’s main thoroughfare, using fire trucks.

Several big establishments were still shuttered on Friday as more disinfection activities are scheduled during the night.

Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo, chair of the City’s IATF Covid-19, said the teams will continue disinfection activities until the threat of the dreaded disease that has resulted in a global pandemic is eliminated.

Areas that were already disinfected include the city hall compound, the public market, churches, hospitals, the city port, city streets, malls, stores, parks, government offices, and other public places, Demecillo said. (PNA)
